Hog Roast Shere
With the month of June starting sunny it was with high spirits that we set out for a Hog Roast in Shere last weekend. The weather was gorgeous compared to the wet and windy conditions we had faced the weekends before so everything was looking good for a cracking event. The serve time was 8pm and so after starting the slow roasted hog cooking at 6am we had plenty of time to make sure all our gear was tip top and did a pre-hog check of our new gazebo fitting it out with fly/mosquito nets as summer evenings can sometimes be ruined by attacks by flying marauders. Safe in the knowledge that the service area was now completely bug free we packled up and set off to Shere at 5pm with a beautifully crisp and succulent hog ready to be finished at extremely high temperature onsite to create the perfect crackling.
Shere is a town famous for its “White Horse Inn” also known as “Cripps” in the 1450. The venue was a lovely large house and garden and with 80 hungry guests we got setup and started prepping our salads. Saturdays choice was the homemade coleslaw which is just superb when served inside the bun on top of the meat (my personal favourite), a Tomato, Basil & Mozzarella Salad, Green Salad & herb infused new potatoes. The guests were getting the smell of hog wafting over to them and so bang on 8pm we started serving. Immediately the feedback was great and so confident in the knowledge everyone was happy with our food we relaxed and enjoyed the rest of a balmy hog roast evening in Shere with happy guests you get happy Spitting Pig Hog Roasters.
