Fact: hog roasts make everything better. It might sound like a big statement, sure – but once you’ve seen a crowd gather around a crackling-topped pork roll, it’s hard to argue. Birthdays, weddings, work do’s, random Saturdays… a hog roast is perfect for turning a perfectly nice event into something people won’t stop talking about. And when it comes to sporting occasions? That’s where this ancient cooking method really shines.
So, now that the 6 Nations is in full swing, we’re firmly in our happy place. Rugby on the screen, plenty of banter in the air, and a proper plate of comfort food in hand. Honestly, it doesn’t get much better than that. At Hog Roast Twickenham, we’ll happily admit that a warm pork sandwich has become our unofficial match-day mascot. Juicy pulled pork, sage and onion stuffing, a dollop of applesauce and that all-important crunch of crackling – it’s the kind of food that makes you forget the weather and the pre-match nerves.
And no, this isn’t just us talking it up. We’ve been busy lately, with one standout booking seeing us cater for 120 guests at the England v Wales clash on the 7th of February. The atmosphere was electric from the get-go, and Hog Roast Twickenham was thrilled to be right there in the middle of it.
Before the match, our catering manager Olly set up a spread designed to get everyone in the spirit. Alongside our signature hog roast and a stack of soft rolls and wraps, we served vegan BBQ jackfruit buns soaked in smoky hickory sauce – proof that no one gets left out when we’re cooking, no matter their preference. It was exactly what was needed to fuel the pre-match buzz.
And just before kick-off at 16:40, we made sure the staff were fed too (because a hungry team helps no one). As England pulled ahead and the cheers got louder, the smiles got bigger all round – especially once that 41-point win was sealed.
But we weren’t done yet. Post-match hunger is very real, so we rolled out a second wave of comfort food in the form of homemade pies. Meat and potato, chicken, cheese and onion – simple, satisfying and gone in minutes.
The 6 Nations isn’t over yet. If you’ve got a match to watch and people to feed, Hog Roast Twickenham would love to be part of it. Trust us – rugby tastes better with a hog roast.
