With as many events as Hog Roast Esher caters week in, week out, you’d think we’d grab every spare moment in the diary to put our feet up and rest our weary backs – but nope! Give us a blank space and we start hunting for something to fill it, like a wedding fair, for instance.
And as luck would have it, Sandown Park Racecourse brought back its iconic wedding show earlier this month. On the 4th of October, more than 100 of Surrey’s top wedding suppliers and specialists turned the venue into a buzzing hub of inspiration, which more than lived up to its reputation as the biggest wedding fair in the county. There were glamorous catwalks, jewellery showcases, bridal dress discounts and floral displays that could make any respectable bumblebee colony hyperventilate. Engaged couples had plenty to explore – and plenty of reasons to wander off and lose track of time.
Hog Roast Esher was delighted to be among the exhibitors and we set up a stall right in the thick of the action. Couples were welcome to pop over and chat all things food related with our bubbly team – but it very quickly turned into so much more than just a simple chat. While they talked through their plans for the big day, we handed out tasty samples from our Southern Slow Roast Menu to give them a little taste of what we can offer.
For anyone sitting on the fence, those samples really did the trick. Plenty of people went from tucking a business card in their pocket to booking with us there and then. And we’ll admit that’s about the best feeling you can get at a fair – short of a free lunch, of course.
By the time the day wrapped up, Hog Roast Esher headed back to headquarters with tired feet but very big ideas. Shows like this keep us sharp, relevant and properly connected to the wedding community, and we’re already turning our favourite trends from the day into new catering concepts, so that future couples get a fresh, flawless dining experience that feels up to date.
