Established accounting firm Shipleys LLP recently bid farewell to one of their longest-serving members of staff, Carol, who after working for the company as a private client advisor for a staggering 42 years, decided it was about time she retired. Like many retirees, Carol wanted to celebrate the beginning of this exciting new chapter of her life by inviting her family and colleagues over for an unforgettable feast and after hearing about Hog Roast Godalming from a close friend, she decided to give us a call to discuss catering options for the event.
With the help of our experienced catering manager Matt, Carol quickly decided on our formal hog roast dining menu as well as a selection of canapes and a duo of delicious desserts to mark the occasion. After placing her trust in the Hog Roast Godalming team, the only thing Carol had left to do was spread the word of the retirement party to her 30 guests who were overwhelmed with excitement when they discovered they were in for a Hog Roast treat!
Arriving at Carol’s home in the early afternoon, Matt and the catering crew set up the gazebo in the client’s spacious back garden where they prepared for the evening meal by slow roasting the rosemary seasoned spring lamb and freshly-caught salmon. With the meat and fish effortlessly sizzling away, the team turned their attention to the vegetarian and vegan-friendly grilled vegetable skewers and canapes of mini pizzas, dim sum, mini quiche and a selection of Indian snacks.
As the serving time neared, guests began to arrive at Carol’s home where they were immediately drawn to the buffet by the tantalising scents, and building their appetite for the main course, they tucked into the piping hot canapes while the Hog Roast Godalming team added the finishing touches of mint and a mustard and dill sauce to the lamb which they served up with mixed vegetables and new potatoes on China crockery.
The bittersweet event came to a close with a buffet of chocolate torte and vacherins of strawberries and passionfruit ice cream which the guests couldn’t get enough of and before leaving the group to enjoy the rest of their evening, the Hog Roast Godalming crew discreetly cleared away the mess.
