After their daughter’s wedding, they organised a relaxed post-wedding lunch on the 25th of April as a way of bringing everyone back together, allowing them to swap stories from the day before and keep the good vibes going just a little longer.
With 43 guests to feed, our catering manager Shaun got everything underway early, making it all look deceptively easy. By the time 2pm rolled around, the spread was ready – and it didn’t disappoint. Front and centre was a beautifully cooked hog roast, complete with all the bits you’d expect. We’re talking golden crackling, tender pulled pork, sage and onion stuffing and a generous helping of applesauce. Add in fresh salads, creamy gourmet coleslaw and a stack of soft rolls and wraps, and you’ve got something people naturally want to gather around.
Of course, we made sure there was something just as satisfying for guests who preferred to skip the meat – grilled vegetable kebabs, served with flatbreads, tzatziki, sweet chilli sauce and optional halloumi, brought plenty of colour and flavour to the table.
The atmosphere? Relaxed, chatty, and exactly what you’d want the day after a wedding to feel like. No rushing around, no pressure to buzz from one guest to the next – just good food and even better company.
And judging by how quickly people went back for seconds, it’s safe to say Hog Roast Reading hit the mark.
