Sunshine, Weddings and a Hog Roast Wantage Feast Timed to Perfection!

Hog Roast WantageOkay, be honest, which one of you ordered Mediterranean weather for the UK this summer? We’re not complaining, though – not really.

The kind of heat that’s been rolling across the country lately is the stuff engaged couples dream about when they’re deep in the planning stages, staring out at a grey February sky and quietly hoping for the best. Blue skies, temperatures nudging the 30s, not a single anxious glance at a weather app in sight. And for our most recent clients, it all came together exactly as hoped and the result was the kind of celebration that felt like a dream come true.

It also just so happens that these soaring temperatures work out rather well for Hog Roast Wantage too – and here’s something most people wouldn’t think to consider.

Weather genuinely affects how we cook. Even with our stainless steel grills doing the heavy lifting, a warm day changes the whole rhythm of the prep. Cold, damp conditions mean things take a little longer to get where they need to be. But sunshine? Everything moves faster, the heat builds quicker and the whole process runs more efficiently. For a big event with a fixed serving time, that’s actually quite significant.

For this particular wedding, Hog Roast Wantage had already factored the heat into our prep schedule well before arriving on site. The last thing anyone wants is a pig that peaked forty minutes before the buffet opened, so the timing was carefully managed from the start – and it paid off. By the time 100 guests made their way to the buffet, everything was exactly how we wanted it.

The spread itself was classic hog roast done properly. Hog Roast Wantage prepared tender pulled pork with sage and onion stuffing, shards of crispy crackling and homemade applesauce, served alongside a cool mixed salad and gourmet coleslaw that felt perfectly suited to the weather. BBQ jackfruit rolls and grilled vegetable kebabs meant the meat-free guests were equally well catered for.

As summer weddings go, this one was a pretty good reminder of why we love this time of year and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us – if you’re curious, stay tuned for updates.

Until then, why not plan your own summer shindig with Hog Roast Wantage? Booking is a piece of cake – and the results are even tastier.
