Life at Hog Roast London is never dull, but some days have that extra spark – and our recent trip to Wimbledon High School for Girls was definitely one of those days. The moment we pulled up on Mansel Road, we had a good feeling this event was going to be a success. Spoiler Alert: We were right!
Roy and James were the dream team in charge of this one, and they had their work cut out for them: two hundred hungry guests expecting something delicious at exactly 2 pm on the dot. No pressure… right? Good thing these two operate like a well-oiled machine! So, by late morning, the scent of slow-roasting pork was drifting across the grounds and catching curious noses from every direction.
The star of the show was a whole roasted pig – crackling and all. And not just any crackling, but the sort that snaps perfectly when you tap it with the carving knife. It was paired with proper classics: sweet apple sauce, a hearty sage and onion stuffing, and a generous spread of rolls and wraps, including gluten-free and wholemeal so no one got left out. People love a good DIY sandwich moment, and we could see guests carefully constructing their own creations like it was an art form.
But we didn’t stop at meat. For our vegetarian and vegan guests, Hog Roast London rustled up our homemade pulled jackfruit, soaked in a smoky hickory BBQ sauce. It’s one of those dishes that even meat eaters eye up with curiosity, and we heard more than a few “wait – this is vegan?” comments as the line moved along.
We served everything on simple disposable plates with plenty of napkins (because let’s be honest, a proper hog roast can get gloriously messy). By the time the clock hit serving hour, the guests had swarmed Hog Roast London like bees to honey, and we barely had a moment to catch our breath – but that’s exactly how we like it.
Seeing 200 smiling, well-fed guests is always worth the hustle. Cheers to another brilliant London event in the books!
