What really goes on behind the scenes to make a hog roast, you may be wondering? Here at Hog Roast Croydon, we’re going to give you an insight into what a day in the life of a hog roaster looks like and what you can expect when booking us for your event.
First of all, it starts with choosing the right pig. The size of pig we opt for all depends on the number of guests we’re serving. We work with trusted local butchers to source the very best pigs that are healthy, well-fed and free-range. We usually choose the pig around 2 weeks before the event to ensure they’re super-fresh and we’re well prepared. Once the pig is selected, we’ll prepare the meat and score the skin to help it crisp up during roasting. It’s then marinated with a whole host of herbs and spices,
Once the prep work is done, it’s time for the magic to happen: the roasting process. It’s a delectable art that has taken decades to perfect and we are so excited to show you what we can do. We cook the pork on our state-of-the-art hog roasting machine which allows the meat to become tender and juicy, while the skin crisps up into golden crackling. We can also provide a whole host of sides including crispy roast potatoes, crunchy coleslaw and of course, our popular mac and cheese.
In many instances, Hog Roast Croydon are asked to set up a carving station where guests can come and help themselves to portions, so that they can tuck into whatever takes their fancy. Our chefs will be on-hand to answer any questions and assist where necessary.
Once the event has come to an end, we manage all of the tidying up, so you don’t have to worry about anything once the event has ended. We’ll also leave you with any leftovers (if you wish) so that you can create your very own hog roast sandwiches the next day.
