Hog Roast Russ Hill’s highly-skilled catering manager Shaun and his wife Lou have been especially busy with festive-themed bookings this past month, and now that Christmas is just one week away, their schedule is, somehow, even more packed!
As you might have already guessed, our most popular requests at the minute are coming from corporate venues who are looking to kickstart their Christmas celebrations early with traditional office-based parties.
Every year our team looks forward to these sorts of events, and 2020 has been no different in that respect. So, when Shaun was asked to handle the catering of a local business lunch, he and Lou were as excited as ever to get started on the necessary preparations for the occasion.
The client for this event was a medium-sized company of 70 employees, run by manager, Tanya who had booked in for a Hog Roast Russ Hill Christmas special: our stunning festive menu with a succulent meat option and plenty of delicious sides.
Deciding between turkey and pork was tricky, to say the least, but Tanya had a plan. Instead of making the potentially wrong choice, she settled the dilemma by asking her staff to vote between the two types of meat, and in the end, it was pork that won by a landslide majority!
With everyone at the company eagerly looking forward to tucking into a feast fit for royalty, Hog Roast Russ Hill made sure to arrive on-site a good few hours ahead of the serving time. This gave Shaun and Lou enough time to score the pig before covering the meat in water and roasting it over real flames.
As the pork slowly rotated above the fire, forming a layer of gorgeous crispy crackling and a juicy interior, Shaun and Lou turned their focus to the homemade sides and accompaniments of sage and onion stuffing, which was cooked in the juices of the sizzling pork for extra flavour, applesauce, roasties, cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets and a medley of seasonal vegetables. For non-meat-eating guests, our popular grilled veggie skewers were also added to the selection.
The guests loved every bite of the winter warming goodness that Hog Roast Russ Hill created, and Tanya is so grateful to Shaun and Lou for all their hard work!
