Well that was an extreme hog roast in Bramley last Saturday. The weather forecast was a bit sketchy all week but the rain was forecast to clear, unfortunately this left showers and wind to contend with. Here at Spitting Pig Bramley we have been there and seen it all when it comes to hog roasts in different climates but the wind is always a tough element to contend with. The clients venue was in Bramley at a beautiful big old house with stables, pool and a great outside garden space to setup in. With around 100 guests to serve at 7.30pm I arrived between 12-1pm as I had arranged with my client, I was to be confronted with great gusts of wind and the odd heavy shower.
Once I had secured the gazebo fast into the ground with all available pegs and ropes I got the pig on a spit lit and covered both ends of the machine in tin foil to help keep the heat in. Normally on a windless hot sunny day the ends of the machine are left uncovered but today was definately not one of those days. I had a beautiful boxer dog to keep me company throughout the day and she was well rewarded with the odd bone once dinner was served. By 7.30pm the hog roast in Bramley was cooked perfectly and hungry guests were coming over to see it being carved and drawn by the lovely smell of cooked pork. As the party was a 40th the band started playing as darkness fell and it was a great idea for them to hire a big marquee so everyone could party hard out of the wind and rain.
